What We Stand For

At Roadkill Landscaping, our mission is to do work worth doing: building outdoor spaces with care, standing behind every project like it's our own, and giving back to the Grand Valley community that gave us our start.

It started with a bid.

This spring, Tope Elementary reached out to us about building an outdoor classroom, a garden where kids could learn outside. They sent us the plans, and Anthony and Colton couldn't wait to get started. We met at the school, walked the project, and sent our quote.

Then we learned the story behind it.

Our bid came in at nearly double the budget. What we didn't know at first was where that budget came from. The money had been raised by friends and family of Julie Armbruster, a beloved Tope teacher who passed away in December 2025. This wasn't just an outdoor classroom. It was a memorial to someone who gave so much to her students and her community.

We didn't want a budget to be the end of the story.

So we picked up the phone. We reached out to our partners and vendors, shared Julie's story, and asked for help. They answered. Through donated materials and community contributions, our partners helped cut the original project cost by approximately 50%, bringing it within budget so we could get to work.

A garden that will keep growing.

In October, we stood with Julie's family, students, and colleagues at the dedication. Hearing their stories showed us just how many lives she touched. Long after our equipment leaves, her legacy will keep growing in the space we helped build.
